Radio station back on air
MORLEY’S local radio station will soon be back on air.
A new radio society committee will be elected in February for Morley FM and the new team say they have exciting plans.
Regular monthly streaming of their programmes on the internet, live broadcasting from the studio at Woodkirk High Specialist Science School, outside broadcasts in Morley and broadcasting just to the school are all on the agenda.
The committee is now asking for the town’s support so if you would like to become involved in any aspect of broadcasting, programme preparation or technical support you are invited to go along to the next meeting at 7pm on Monday, February 4, in room Y4 in the school.
The radio society is a community group of local people from many walks of life with a desire to broadcast.
They are planning to produce over 150 hours of live broadcasting when the society has its next licence, so there is plenty of air time if you want to have a go.
As the studio is in the school Woodkirk students will get plenty of opportunities to make and appear in programmes but it is a community venture and all are welcome to get involved.
The first programmes for 2008 will be streamed on the internet on a regular basis.
If you would like to advertise a local event or business or if you want more information look at the Morley Community Radio website or contact Mrs V Stokeley at Woodkirk High School on 3368140.
